by the end of third moto i decided to leave my facial mud theraphy mask on till we get to the washing point..
apart from the bad wheather... the track layout was quite good......if it was dry.. with doubles and woops it is still quite safe but due to rain almost everyone ride conservatively
yo rick ...thanks for towing my bike back to the pit, cleaning our bikes before every moto, taking photos and providing other means of supports
you the man

We need to encourage the bike shops to set up tents selling spares and offering repairs whenever there is a race - good business for them and good service for us!!
Maybe someone selling some food and drinks as well.
Or maybe I am just getting lazy.

Maybe some old timers out there should join the expert class so as to give other riders who are really in the novice class a chance???

Why? Why? Why so?
Why must SMSA + Race = Rain?
Or Rain + Race = SMSA.
From the moment I awake, hopes of a good day got flushed down the bowl along with the brown stuff! And we were not even spared the minimum of a chance.. The rain stretched from east all the way to the west.
Worst den expected, the time and the money and the effort put in building the track went to TOTAL waste! Now the place is just a washed out waste land.. again. And the thot of clearing the back double on the first lap went into the portable loo. Everyone was wet thru to their underpants even BEFORE the race.
As everyone there in the track (minus those who din see the entire track) can see, it would be a fantastic race if it was bright and sunny. Riders fighting for corners, jumping doubles, splashing water and clearing whoops. But if that's what we get from up above, so be it. Organisers, riders and all are still game for a wet race, so there we go. A messy, 'eventful', wet and unique experience.
Dis time 'round, the pools are not the greatest enemy. The humps and jumps are. And the earth gets whipped cream-soft in the rain, every humps ends with a good pond of that. With that kinda 'traction', no good jumping was quite possible, as even rolling could sent the bike sideways. Well, or maybe it's just me.. no excuse for being a goon rider the whole time. :crying:
To some, it's more a endurance and bike prep race, than a skill test. For the slower ones, they will win as long as they complete. For the fast guys, they will win if they prep their bike well. For the potential winners, they can come thru if they dun get distracted from the mud. It's not so much about skill anymore, more factors are involved here.
Nevertheless, I guess most guys enjoyed the day, from those spectators to riders to support crews to organisers. Perhaps yrs truely is the only one grumbling. Can't blame me, I held high hopes for a good track and a good race... but it all came crashing back on moir. :crying:

i think top 5 of novice class should get promoted to expert class next race, just like what ideal has been doing. that would probably be fair for everyone.
then maybe when there are more participants, we can actually have 3 classes? :cheer:

From what i know, this race was actually a postponed of the last 2002 races. So starting next race, it'll be a 2003 series. Meaning, this race was just a way they can see who are the better guys, as no one knows who was who, and who was good and no good.
For those who managed to slip into Novice this time, the next race will have you lined up with the Experts.
Revva> Yah, pinning me hope on next race, Sigh. For you and ktkt, should be glad din race dis one. Fun maybe fun, but big trouble if bike drank water from the pond.. den next race meybe can't make it. I was lucky, but no so for some others i think.

I don't know about everyone else but I had a lot of fun...bloody tiring but still great fun. There was actually lots of traction out there and it was safer the clear the jumps than to roll over them!
The trick is to pretend that it is dry and ride hard. If you slow down the mud clogs your tyres and you are screwed.
Can't wait for the next race.
Not sure what motomulisha was refering to about rules and regs but I was talking to one of the SMSA guys and he thought that it might be possible to let the bike shops set up tents - don't know until you try so must try.
I think the SMSA guys are showing some real flexibility to try and make this a success. After all we are only racing for fun not money.
