now talking about oil..i realised ever since i switched to castrol activ 20w-50..it's started leaking..could that be the problem?
before i was using cheap oil from carrefour TOTAL engine oil..
anyway..let say i know roughly where it's leaking..how much does it cost to change gasket? seem very trouble like expensive..
what kind of mineral based oil out in the shops?

you first have to locate the source of the leak, only then u'll have an idea of what to replace.
oil can leak from many places. E.g. clutch cover, oil drain plug, mangeto cover, crankcase gasket, kickstarter oil seal, countershaft oil seal...
some are more troublesome to replace than others... most are easy to rectify except the crankcase gasket (the one that joins the 2 halfs of the crankcase)...

for the sticky stuff, should be the exhaust header. if using pc, tendency to leak is high even though using the hi temp glue. the restriction from the stock end can and high RPM riding can be some possible reason. one more possiblity could be the male end that connects the header is loose.
if stock pipe, then could be the exhaust gasket needs to change liao. or improper alingment also.
if its from the side of the powervalve, the the seal needs to change liao.

There are two types of oil spills, a seep and a leak.
A seep is just that, a slow seepage of oil that does not produce a drip, is sometimes not noticeable on the pavement as a "spill," and generally does not seep enough oil to adversely affect the oil level between oil changes. You may sometimes notice smoke or a burning odor caused by oil seeping on a hot engine or from coming into contact with hot exhaust parts. Seeps do not necessarily have to be repaired immediately. A leak is just that, a leak that causes a drip of oil when the vehicle is parked. A leak will produce a puddle of oil on the pavement, and continues to drip while the vehicle is driven. A leak can adversely affect oil levels, and if not checked, can drain enough oil to do internal engine damage. A leak will usually be accompanied by smoke and a burning odor. Leaks should be corrected immediately.
Changing the engine oil and filter often are the best ways to prevent costly engine oil leaks.

i think my problem falls under the "seep" category..
it's like it drips about 4 drops of oil everytime i park my bike. My under engine is wet with oil.
I don't know if it leaks as i ride..but i doubt so..
anyway..does XLR200R has oil filter?
