Hi all XR4 guru.
Kindly advise is it possible for a overhaul of XR4 engine only cost 3k?

Am no guru... but...
really depends on what you change. If you get new cylinder head, block, crankcase, crankshaft, con-rod, clucth assembly, yeah... possibly...
Is $3K too low or too high in your opinion?

only gaskets, bearing timing chain and some other part but no piston block or other other major parts!!
does it cost 3K???!!!!!

The only way to know if you have been overcharged is to ask for a detailed itemised breakdown of things done and replaced.

Agreed. Ask for detailed items being changed and compare to the XR price list here;
XR price list
Or u can check on websites like ebay and do your conversion rate.

Like tat looks bout 1k plus only. Mayb lesser. 3k can change block n all new still got extra ....

Anybody can advise on crank shaft? Overhaul at $640 is it market price? What is crank shaft overhaul?

Again... what has been changed? The entire assembly can consist of the following major components:
- crankshaft
- con rod
- crankshaft bearings
In order to get to the crankshaft, the entire engine (top and bottom end) needs to be dismantled, which automatically means another $100 or so worth of gaskets and oil seals.

Most important which shop? Do let us know. If u think u have been overcharge , take it as a lesson and move on. Just avoid going to that shop again.
