Part 1
11.00am - The weather started to rain heavily at north & east side of Singapore. The following riders form up at Simpang Bedok namely: Yan Bebert XR125, Khai, Mira, Zola, Liz, Ralph, Joemac, me & nur. Waited for the rain to stop, infrom other riders to meet at Mdm Rokiah's resident instead. At 12.30pm we departed to Blk 109 Bedok North Rd & met with the Super.moto.Sg riders and Adi, Mamat & Harris.
Took group photos followed by walking towards Mdm Rokiah's unit. We went in, the Super.moto.Sg lead, Yanies handed over the goodies & donations & I on behalf of slackriders.com handed over the donations to Mdm Rokiah. Exchange a few speeches, she cried for the appreciation. Took pix with her, some of us entered the room & saw her 2nd son lying down on the bed beside the dialysis machine. I & Yanies cuden stand to watch how tough this family have to endure.
A few minutes later, we left & had our safety briefing before the deployment. At the venue, met with ezan. Register our group, chat with the main organising head & at 2.30PM, we redeployed to Darul Ma'wa childrens home. Nicely organised, we rode casually & decently.
At 2.45PM we arrived at Darul Ma'wa Childrens' home. Park our bikes & took a few pix.
Part 2
I met one of the organiser for Bikers Aid at Darul Ma'wa. I asked him on any events they will be organising. He informed me that at 4PM, another charity convoy will be held at Kallang KFC to the childrens home. Invited by him, I informed one of the Riders Aid lead on our departure to attend the other convoy. Handed over the Darul Ma'wa donations to Yanies Super.moto.sg wo will be taking the cert on Slackriders.com behalf, Slackriders depart to Kallang KFC. There, I met with the Bikers Aid Chief who welcome us. Took a group photo & ready to deploy. The route we took this time is as follows: ECP, KPE, PIE, Sims Ave through Geylang & Still Road. This bunch is a bit loud as compared frm the part 1 convoy.
Arrived at Darul Ma'wa, parked our bikes, the kids went out & got to put on the helmets & ready to go...
Rounds after rounds within the Darul Ma'wa Vicinity, the kids juz cant have enough.
At 6.15PM we watched the magic show with the kids & the photo montage of Darul Ma'wa. 5 kids jump onto us at our table. Being so pampered, some sat our our laps whie others just sat beside.
Took the porridge & drinks for them & at 7.12pm the call for prayer sounded & the kids started to recite the prayer loud & clear together.
Part 3
We went for night prayers together, & had our chicken briyani, Murtaba & mee.
While the kids prepare to change to their new yellow uniforms, the home suprintendant shared with us on the rules & regulations & the classifications for different group of kids. Some of which may be under the Care Protection Order, whereby family members are restricted from talking to their children for security/safety issue.
The kids stand in 2 lines. Boys & Girls. Some of the kids already know me. But each volunteers can only take 1 kid each. When the kids were freed, 3 kids Sahil 14, Rohaimin 7 & Hafiz 6 cling onto me while my fiancee, Nur had 2 kids with her, Syafiqah & her sister. First reaction I wud say, jialat2.... liao. But thinking of their need to enjoy & this is the only time they can spend their time in Geylang Bazaar, I placed my worries aside.
We bashed through the crowded bazaar, we pit stop to draw cash & buy drinks for the children. Slowly the kids request for this & that we depends on our budget & the needs, we 'll buy for them. They had ice cream, candy floss, new watch, fluffy toys, Upin Ipin baloon & etc. not forgetting the Ramli Burgers which seems like to be their favourite. I was touched when the vendor of the Ramli Burger that they sponsor the 3 burgers for the kids. I thank him & we continue shopping. Entered 7-11, they grab what ever they would like to munch & we head out back towards the home.
At 11.30pm we gathered & the officers thank us & finally, the most emotional part is when all of them approached us for the last time, grab our hands, hug & kiss goodbye. Some of the kids said something that made some of ur cry.. words like: "if my mum passed on, I want to be with you..." said one of the kids to one of our slackriders. So touched.
Likewise, Rohaimin told me to come back next year..."Abang, next year datang lagi(come again) k..., Rohaimin pulak blanje(turn to treat) abang..." cute, i just smile & wave them bye2..
Well, we call it a day... a very long day we had... Really hope to see more slackriders to be involved in this emotional event. It just need the touch, heart & bravery to face with these kids.
To those who were present yesterday, I would like to thank you guys for drawing a smile on the childrens' faces..
Thank You Slackriders.
