Just got back from Los Angeles, California… I was there working for the X Games IX. I went to check out the Moto X events… Here’s my report of what I’ve witnessed. I can’t believe my eyes!

16 Aug – Freestyle (LA Coliseum)Practice:
Tommy Clowers has pulled out of the freestyle competition due to a sore back from the step-up event the day before. During the freestyle practice, Nate Adams, Mike Metzger, and Travis Pastrana were flipping the 75 ft. gap. Deegan and Parsons nailed the giant dirt hit, but the real story is the double wide kicker ramp. I heard from my friends that Travis was going to hold the rumored 360 out for big air. I think after riding and getting pumped up on the giant freestyle course he might pull it under the big lights in the coliseum. Travis has a severely depleted knee, rumours is if he suffers another knee injury, it might have very a very final impact on his ability to ride again. I am sure that doesn't play well mentally for Travis' big comeback to the X Games. Dyane Kinnaird just went down doing a mcmetz. He missed the bar and took a hard spill. He is out as he has ice on his foot and elbow. Metzger pulled out of freestyle too. He is too hurt to execute what he feels will be a safe run given his recent injuries.

Prelims Result:
1st Nate Adams
2nd Travis Pastrana
3rd Kenny Bartram
4th Beau Bamburrg
5th Dustin Miller
6th Brian Deegan
7th Drake McElroy
8th Myles Richmond

Finals:
Brian Deegan made history by landing the first back-flip 360 (Pulled the bike backward and and corkscrewed the bike around) on dirt. Brian thought he had bagged the gold only to have Pastrana pulling the same back-flip 360 too. You should have seen Deegan’s face when Pastrana landed it. I saw it! Priceless!

Finals Result:Gold- Travis Pastrana 94.67
Silver- Nate Adams 93.33
Bronze – Brian Deegan 93.00

17 Aug – Big Air (Staples Center) The competition format called for the riders to take three runs on the single-jump course, and the best score would count. The 12 riders in the field could chose to jump off any of three ramps, including a 75-footer for the riders' biggest tricks.Practice:
Carey Hart wrecked attempting a back-flip and busted his ankle. By the way Pink is his girlfriend and she was there to give him support. Mulisha’s Ronnie Faisst crashed twice doing a back-flip and fractured his tailbone. Kinnaird is injuried during practice too. Beau Bamberg, Kenny Bartram, Travis Pastrana, Mike Metzger and Mike Jones did not show up for the first practice.

Finals:
Pastrana’s going into surgery next week for a blown knee, decided to skip Big Air and give his knee a break and Mike Metzger announced that he will withdraw too due to injuries.

Justin Homan from metal mulisha landed his first ever back-flip, first attempt and he landed it clean. Lots of guys pulling out new tricks. It has been a total blender with guys dropping out, injuries and new tricks.

‘Mad’ Mike Jones did the unthinkable… he went for the ‘Barrel Roll’ off the 32 ft. ramp. Nobody has landed it yet. He fell off his bike upside-down in mid-air and took a hard fall from 20 feet. He was unconscious for several minutes, he was taken off the course in a stretcher. He can move his legs, but looked as though he may have an arm or rib injury.

The Mulisha’s field general, Deegan hit the ramp and pulled off a back-flip 360 and landed it. He’s calling it the Mulisha Twist.

Beau Bamburg crashed hard attempting a back-flip sterilizer, didn't get his feet all the way through the bars and fell hard. The fender of his bike bounced and hit him in the back of the head, and he landed on his head when he hit the ground and was knocked unconscious. He finally got up and was helped off the course.

Nate Adams threw one of the sickest tricks of the night: a back-flip heel-clicker to a no-hander lander.

Finals Result:
Gold – Brian Deegan 97.67
Silver – Nate Adams 95.33
Bronze - Kenny Bartram – 92.00
(For full results check out www.expn.com)

The photos I took will only be ready on Saturday. I will post it once I get it scanned.

I am presently in charge of the Sports & Competition dept of the ESPN Asian X Games and Asian Xtour, part of the ESPN International X Games team. So I was roped in to assist in the 'Olympics' of X Games, X GAMES IX. Not a day go by that I don't thank God for this dream job.

Watch out for the Asian X Games which will be held next year 19-22 Feb 2004 in Kuala Lumpur. Most probably Bukit Jalil Stadium. This year we had Jeremy Carter, Chuck Carothers, Doug Parsons and Jake Windham. Next year we are bringing 3-4 Freestyle riders from the US to do the demo. Riders to be confirmed.

We are hoping to develop Moto X in Asia, bringing the top freestyle asian riders to compete in the Asian X Games in the near future. For now it's only demo.

Singapore is the regional office for Asian X Games. As for whether we will hold the event here at home remains to be seen. Asian X Games are held in one country for 3 years. This is our third year in KL and I must say the M'sia government is very supportive of their local extreme sports scene.

Holding the Asian X Games in Singapore is highly unlikely. Already with the Xtour, the Sports Council are not very supportive. They are more interested in soccer. It may go back to Phuket, who knows.

How i wish Singapore will hold one of the Asian X Games or somethin'.

Any chances the Metal Mulisha riders will be roped in for the Freestyle demo? i think they roxor man~! :rocking:

right on~!

been a Mulisha trooperz since day one when they first came out.......
ever since brian deegan took the helm steering M/M into greater heights...i felt M/M will see greener pasture due to the fact that the riders are getting more daring and pulling more sick stunts.

I jus hope their Crusty tour will come to Singapore :rocking:

So if u happen to be on the road and u see a Gasgas with a Mulisha sticker on the rear shroud....that's probably me.

cant find anymore Metal Mulisha stickers here in Singapore.....sighz
