unless you really like this particular bike/model and willing to put aside a significant sum of $ (and of cuz time) to rebuild it, by all means. else i would feel the best is to stay away from it.

of cuz if it's FOC, i would take it Smile :)
since i only lugi little (road tax, transfer fee...) in return for an experience of LC4!

he's lettin go fer onli 1.6 k...plus da bike was just reconditioned..most of his frens find his bike unique coz fer xr4 after fall down its dam hard to start but his is just touch n go!

fer a rugged bike, da condition seems resonably ok wif da original kits at home.

i tried it, and i'm still amazed by its power! just afraid da wear n tear..basically dares nothing to do to rebuild..just to change da chains..

There is an issue with the crank bearings giving way on pre 2002 LC4s. If this happens, you can kiss the engine goodbye. The only solution is to split the cases and replace the bearings with an updated part.

Also check that the cylinder head has not cracked and welded back.

If you were to take over the bike, keep this in mind.

If your friend is willing to part with it for $800, I'll grab it immediately. Laughing

QUOTE (psycandy @ Jun 1 2006, 12:31 PM) oh i must re quote wat i said ... if stock LC4 i dont want but 4VVV's LC4 i want!! Laughing

Btw i use to own one before. love the power but hate the wrong side kick starter
huh? y u call it 4vvv?
hehehe..yes! it was kinda akward tryin to start da bike!

so, is dis a positive comment? Razz
4vvv is my nik Wink

These bikes are real old already (Ranging from 8 years to 12 years old)
Need a bit of work if you want it to run well

If use occasionally, it's quite Very Happy
If everyday use, transport bike, then it's
If you race the LC4 or ride hard, then Surprised

Old LCs are around that price range now.

Common problems (mostly not easy to spot):
- Crack block (parts alone cost $2K)
- worn crank/crank bearings (parts alone cost $700)
- Worn piston/rings (<$400 depends on which brand)
- Steering bearings ( <$100 )
- engine gaskets oil leak ( depends on the extend of overhal)
- carb problem ( <depends )
- Electrical coil (spoil every 2 years < $500)
- All bearings within the engine of this age need replacement

-LABOUR TO fully open up the engine to fix the above problems (alot $$$$)

The repair cost can easily up by 3 times the purchase price.
Really need spare $$ to standby if you plan to ride hard.

Need a lot of time, $money$, effort to make it run 80% good.
Not recommended if on budget
If this is wat you have in mind: SPEND as little extra $$ as possible,
then better steer away from this bike.

Spend a little more, get a DRz, WR4s EXC4s. Less mechanical headache and easier to ride.
