We got to the Extra Supercross track at about lunchtime on Saturday. Upon arrival, I took a quick track inspection and wasn't too pleased with the condition of the track. The jump faces were still quite soft and were not packed down. It had been apparantly raining all week and the tractor could not pack down the jumps as it was too muddy. After registration, I blobbed around a bit and pondered what could have been. Omar then arrived, along with Phillip, Manfred and Marcus. We went across the road for some lunch, which included Cheese Sandwhiches and drinks. Mmmmmmmmmmmm. We then decided to give the track a go, and went out for practice. After one lap, I realised the track was half as good as it looked. I got most of the doubles knocked over, and didn't even dare to wonder any further then the front section of the track after sighting those massive ruts. We then went to the riders briefing to decide which heat we would be in. Luckily for me, I picked out number 13, which would put me against Chandran, Zak, Omar and another 4 riders. After the briefing, we decided to head back to the New York Hotel, which in no way resembled New York. The one noticeably different thing about this hotel compared to others was the incredibly slow elevators, which resembled me riding practice a few hours ago. We then got cleaned up and went across the road for some seafood. After dinner, we all went back for a long awaited sleep. We had breakfast at 7:30, and headed out to the track at around 830. After another inspection of the track, I was still a bit skeptical about the track. We had a quick 30 minute practice, and then watched the 80cc race and the MZ race. It was now my turn, and since I had picked 13, I would have second last choice of my gate pick. I had to either go way outside or way inside, I chose the latter. Suprisingly, I didn't get the best jump out of the gate but it was enough to hold everyone off, except Omar on his YZ426F. My position didn't hold very long as people passed me left right and centre. After holding off Chandran for a lap, I let him by. I farted around for the next 9 laps, and knowing I was in a qualifying position, didn't risk anything. I finished 5th, I wasn't too happy but all I was worried about was qualifying. After group B of the Open Supercross went, there was a lunch break and the energetic person I am, I sat on my ass for the whole time, only getting up for a bit after my ass went numb. After the break, it was our heat again and I had convinced myself I would qualify. I had a better gate pick this time so I lined up to the inside, next to Omar. Suprise Suprise, the two Yamaha 4-Strokes were out in front again. But again, it was very short lived. I settled in around 5th place, before some guy jumped into me and fortunately for me, he crashed and I didnt. As the laps wore on, Omar stalled the bike a couple of times and I was allowed to get pass. I farted around again for the last 6-7 laps, and nearly crashed on the last lap after my feet slipped off the pegs and I completed a full superman over the double-double-double, which looked more like whoops then doubles. After that scare, I rode safely to the finish line. I ended up in 4th, and was quite pleased that I qualified, even though I knew I wasn't going to cut it doing 15 laps against Malaysias best in the main event. we then waited for about half an hour for no reason at all, and then it started to rain. I rekindled my spirits, and my chances for not finishing last grew from 0% to about 2%. That was enough for me. The rain kept coming, until the track looked more like the pacific ocean then a supercross track. Most of the riders werent too happy, neither were the organisers, so they decided to postpone the event until the next round. That sparked the riders and tempers started to flare. Some riders wanted to race, some wanted it to be cancelled and some wanted to sit down (guess who

) The final decision was to split the prize givings amongst the top 5 point scorers, which in my book was completely unfair as some riders were planning on qualifying and unleashing their fury in the main. It was also unfair in the way that one heat would be more superior then the other, which I shall put to you in an easier way. Lets say Ricky Carmichael, Chad Reed, Tim Ferry, Pastrana and Lusk were in one heat, while Me, John Travolta, a box of matches and a spoon were in another heat. Just say that the spoon one our heat, and Carmichael one the other. That would mean the spoon would accumilate more points then Reed, Ferry and Pastrana when in fact, a spoon can't even ride a bike. So it was a bitter ending to a fun weekend of racing, even though the track could have been better. Congratulations if you read this whole damn thing
