Was in your position a month ago bro Smile Slowly i found that my bike works best with 15:1. 20:1 also can but risk of fouling (thats for me). Oh and twist the throttle till you hear that high pitch sound before changing gear! It works for me Very Happy

I got to share this. Cos more and more ppl, especially those riding 2 stroke Ktm, dun understand the cause of wet sparkplug.

Assuming that the engine is healthy, you are now down to set the jetting of your carb. Base on the diagram above, eg. between idle to 1/8 throttle, the petrol is coming mostly from the slow jet. So assuming if you always ride at this range throttle and you always get a wet sparkplug, then reduce the size of you slow jet. So if you always ride between 1/2 to 3/4 throttle and you always get wet sparkplug, then reduce the size of needle taper. So adjust accordingly based on your situation. Therefore, if you follow the diagram and adjust accrodingly, there is no reason for you to ride wide throttle all the time. No wonder ppl have the misconception that scrambler has too high petrol consumption.


My personal view, adjust you jetting accordingly but dun risk your engine by reducing the amount of 2t. 20ml 2t per 1 liter petrol is the best.

Yes, thats right! I totally agree with dopplegangus... DO NOT REDUCE YOUR 2T just because you are fouling your plug. Adjust your carb jettings and settings accordingly. That diagram is very helpful in trying to help you understand jettings!

I repeat, I am running 25ml per liter and I never fouled my plug. ITS NOT THE 2T! Reduce your 2t and RISK DAMAGING YOUR CYLINDER, PISTON, RINGS, CONROD! Its a thousand dollar mistake waiting to happen!

P.S. an unhealthy carb will also affect the performance of the bike too (can cause fouling of plugs cos you will simply be unable to fine tune your carb to the best possible efficient jet settings)

Bottomline. the amount recommended had been said. the main reason here is your Main Jet and Pilot Jet are the caused of the plugs fouling. I've done my at Magic Motowerks, Paul and Din. these are some of those mechs that truly understand the meaning of Spot-on Jettings! Do make sure your engine is healthy, Fresh piston rings and piston. Those do make a lot of diffence to your jettings.

I can't agree more. I've been reading up on fouled plugs because the 2 stroke bike that I just got kept fouling plugs. Running on Denso plugs, the bike can last 1 day of riding, but I have to keep revving the bike to prevent the "bogging" feeling. It's worse with NGK plugs. Within 30 minutes, the bike will have that characteristic wet sounding "blub, blub, blub, blearghhh" before dying out.

Like what has been mentioned, I'm always afraid of seizing my pistons so putting too little 2T sounds a bit scary. I sent my bike to magic motowerks and guess what. I've ridden my bike three times and it hasn't shown signs of bogging. The power delivery was also more smooth and stable, but the power dropped a bit. The mech mentioned changing the jets and I feel that the bike is more reliable now. I guess if jetting doesn't work, then it's time to change carb?

Fulin is indeed a reputable Mech in SG.

Most of KTM 2 here are very old...Carbs n Jettings r worn too.
If budget permits, those issues can be solved. Mr. Green

20-25ml is indeed an ideal ratio for MX performance bikes.
They hv better jetting setup to mix the 2T without fouling up.
Sadly, most 2 strokers here are far frm ideal condition.

The solution is up yr disgression... Laughing
