hey guys.. i went to a workshop today to service my carburretor as it was overflowing yesterday..

unfortunately, after the servicing my ktm200 was STILL overflowing.. was just wondering.. what should the mech have done to it?.. remove the bottom bolt or take out the whole assembly.. i had to ride through the jam, pay $20 for the servicing and it is STILL overflowing!..

just curious to know, am i being snooked?.. please give me your thoughts.. i had a hard time going home..

more often than not, its the "float valve pin"or also known as the "needle valve pin"

when the rubber tip wears off, it will not stop the flow of petrol into the carb bowl, causing it to overflow. This is always the basic wear and tear part (so check this first); but its not always limited to just this problem.

do i need to get this part changed if petrol comes out the bottom only when i shake my bike? i just changed to a pwm from a pwk btw.. my mech said this is normal as a pwm is "shorter" and im using shorty fork hence the carb is tilted slightly downwards instead of straight up..

Most probably your float height need to adjust. The float control the needle valve so that the fuel delivery is constant. Get to a reputable mechanic and get it check.

I think the mech is bullsh#tting you.. Overflowing carb is not normal irregardless. Like Aremean said it is likely the float valve pin is worn. I have had 4 ktms. 3 of them 2 stroke. This problem is common.

yupz... its either your float valve pin is worn and gets stuck easily or your float height is not set properly.

hey i juz did sumthing on my carb last sunday.. spend 2 hrs under the hot sun before trail. wat i did at first was take out the bottom nut to check whether there is any dirt inside.. n it did have sum dirt inside. i fix back the nut does sum kickstart n open the nut again... i did this for a few times.. but however, it stil over flowing.. than i bo pien oledi i open my carb, take out the whole of the bottom part to check on the float n the inside of the carb.. alot of rubbish i found inside.. clean it off, fix back, still over flowing. i take out the whole thing again n observed the flowing of the fuel, the float n the valve pin n i realised that the center part which holds the valve pin doesnt close the valve pin properly n thus resulting the free flowing. so i use a screw driver minus bend the metal abit n wWAHLAH! no more free flow n are ready for action.... =)

"so i use a screw driver minus bend the metal abit n wWAHLAH!"..

I went to Holeshot and Razmi discovered that the needle holding the pin was 'kiowed' before and on top of that the rubber on the needle valve pin was disintergerated.. it cost me $35 for the pin and till today.. no overflows for me!..

but unfortunately, sometimes, she just doesn't seem to start on me!.. hahaha..
