nis, it all started when i serviced my carb.. before that, when bike is really in messed up order, nothing.... i can use the plug for a mnth without changing it... after i serviced the bike, carbs and everything, then the plug eating problem starts.......

if to get new carb, what would be the ideal one...?? pwm...?? how much??

I personally love PWM.... and the spark plug last up to a year. Use iridium sparkplug. It produces a better spark and it will eliminate your sparkplug problem but you're not really solving the problem. The best is to change the carb. I guess $450-$500....

How about FCR carb? Aremean Troy is selling them. Heard it's good, but not sure if it's for 2 strokers. The stock one is PWK rite.. what's the diff? My carb also like got problem. Will leak out petrol from the float overflow vent if tilt too much or after a long ride.

As for ah seng. I brought my EC2 there before. He gave me attitude. Say that things need to be changed without even taking a closer look at the bike. To be fair, when I brought my DR2 to change tyres there, he was so friendly and helpful. Must see his mood la. Maybe he prefer to service 4 strokers? hahaha.. You may be able to get good deals for parts there, so don't write him off yet.

FCR carbs are also by Keihein bro, but they are meant for thumpers. PWK and PWM are Keihein carbs for 2 smokes. I'm not too sure abt now, but to my knowledge most japanese bikes uses Mikuni. I may be wrong, cos ain't that much 2 strokes ard anymore. I think Mr Aremean can enlighten us on this issue as he is riding a Yamaha YZ125 and just changed his carb to a new one. Very Happy

At 20ml to 1 lt of petrol you are lean enough on the mix, thats 50:1 which is good.

There is a few likely factors that will cause your plug to constantly foul

In order of most likely cause

1. Airfilter dirty and over oiled, air vents blocked, too much oil
2. Worn piston / rings, lack of compression
3. CDI / ignition, weak spark
4. Air screw set incorrect
5. Main jet / idle jet too big
6. You are not revving the tits off it frequently enough to burn off oil
7. Seriously oil soaked silencer and chamber

I was riding a WR200 years back. Was on motorex full sync 2T, PWK 30mm stock jets - Tallest needle clip position, Vforce, DIY polished ports and valves with an NGK heat range 8 plug, barely serviced.

My mixture was 10ml to 1Liter petrol premix, never foul, and can rev up real high rpm whenever I wish. The plugs remains crispy light brown for 3 full years, however I refused to give up having idling nor wish to move to 2nd clip, so the plug tip did indicate a lil lean condition during idling. I manage an average milage of 19-22km/L OTR.

However, each bike is tuned differently, and also dependent on riding style. It'll always be safer to run a little slightly richer if you tend to rev a lot or do off roading. - I set mine up for daily commuting then.

My Aluminum frame YZ125 came stock with Mikuni TMX 38mm carb. I tried the Keihin PWM and Keihin PWK 39mm but I still prefered the TMX... So I subsequently bought a 39mm Mikuni TMX and the bike is SWEEEEEET now!

dopplegangus is correct.

change new carb it will solve ur problem

mine was riding xr4 i change new carb in 2002 no more faulty spark plug again. until nw i nvr change spark plug or wash carb.

trust me nvr let the shop wash ur carb. setting will out if they dunno how to tune it. it will spoilt ur screw track.

carb very important is just like ur heart how it work is air n fuel mixture is to suit our hot weather.

i used to have the same issue.... ran the same premix amount. a bit of spooging. my ktm eats 2 plugs every other ride.... i switch to a size lower main at 168 and everything was good. No more fouling.... However i noticed a bit of bog at WOT after that so i kicked the needle clip 1 notch higher and alls well.... no foul plugs after 20 hours as yet... buying a new carb will do the trick if you get the mech to jet it properly. no point using a new carb if its gonna run rich....
