it was agreeable by both parties; SMSA and the riders that the entry fees would be at $80.......... but now its a changed.......

p.s. we would still have to pay for the SMSA license that is around $150 (applies to those without license)

Definitely, all should pay and be a member!
This is to be fair to the existing members, who "trusted" SMSA, the "chicken" who believed the "egg" will come, instead of giving the advantage to those "chicken" who appear after the "egg"

Agreed before?

It has been a norm, so to speak, that they change their decisions without your consent, they wont even let you know if they dowana.

Moreover, there might be a clause to support that, i am not sure.

Remember what the SMSA head said in the papers recently? That if the response is good, it might be further explored... he should say that ( or support that in action and not words) when the tuas race was packed in 4 full classes 3 yrs back.

this is what they told me about the 100% (almost) increase in entry fees.........

"the new price includes paddock and petrol"

but i thought that provision of paddock is the organisers responsibility and is provided for participating riders for free? can anyone corect me if i am wrong........

and lets say i am wrong, then can we join the race and not have the petrol provided for as well as the paddock and pay the old rate of$80 (cos paddocks can be shared)

well.......i am not making a big fuss but $70 more is a lot of money for a student(and is a big issue to my parents as they are paying)
really hope to join the race..............
sigh

I agree, $150 is a little too ex. But compared to wat, I cant say, coz I have yet to participate in a race. Who knows, in other countries this might also be the going rate to join an SX race.

But looking at my pocket, $150 is considered pricey even for a working adult like myself, I cant imagine how difficult it'll be for the students.

So Armean you were saying, that if you dont have an SMSA license, it'll be $150(for license if i recall correctly) and $150 for the race?? $300 ????

Steam.

I think SMSA screwed themself up this time round.

If all along, they have been organising race proper, they wouldn't have
end up with this situation.

#Rider's Dilemna
Wah... $150 for SMSA membership/license and $30 to get doctor
to endorse my medical status. ($180) In addition, gotta pay $80/150
for the race fee. I dun mind paying race fee but why pay the SMSA
membership so that I can race sia.....

As mentioned previously, if races were organised regularly as promised,
it might eliminate the "why let SMSA profit" thought.

As for those existing SMSA members, how many would take part?
It'll be such a shame if the local class does not have the numbers to show
for itself....

You are all right here...... lemme find out if there are people taking part who does not have a membership and stuffs that an existing member has (sg open la), i will surely make it known all the way to my grc mp!

I am very excited with the whole thingy actually, tho i cant race.

Excited about the racer turn-out, the race itself... a pity, i have seen so many brilliant new riders sprouting out, in discipleship of older riders and/or coming out from the bicycle scene, many of them wil prove to be deserving "successors" to the many barbaric older birds....

We shall see....
